Hi, I’m André. I was born in Alfama, in Lisbon, and I have been touring Portugal professionally for more than ten years. Many of my guests come from the United States: couples, families with kids, and groups of friends visiting Portugal for the first time.
With Nomadinspiration you don’t join a group. It’s you, the people you travel with, and your own guide-driver in a comfortable Mercedes-Benz V-Class. You won’t have to drive, find parking or follow a group bus’s schedule. We stop where you want, eat where the locals eat, and change the plan if something catches your eye.
Good to know before you come
- Time difference. Lisbon is 5 hours ahead of New York and 8 hours ahead of Los Angeles for most of the year.
- Getting here. There are direct flights to Lisbon from several US cities. Your trip can start in Lisbon, Porto or Faro.
- Prices. Multi-day prices are in euros, per group, with a minimum of 2 people. The price is for your whole private group, not per seat.
- Best time to visit. Spring and autumn are lovely: warm days and fewer crowds. Summer is busy, so it’s best to plan early.
- Licensed. Nomadinspiration is a licensed Portuguese tour operator (RNAAT 778/2019).
How a trip often looks
Many American guests like to see the whole country in one trip, from the north to the south. Here is the shape of my From Algarve to Porto journey (8 to 12 days):
- Porto. Arrive and take an easy first evening along the Ribeira riverfront.
- The Douro Valley. A full day among the terraced vineyards, with a quinta visit and lunch overlooking the river.
- Aveiro and Talasnal. The “Venice of Portugal” and one of the country’s most interesting old schist villages.
- South to the Algarve and the Alentejo. Golden cliffs, beaches, then the cork forests and white villages of the Alentejo.
- Lisbon. Your guide-driver takes you to the airport, or you add extra days to explore the city.
Every day can be changed. It’s your trip.

What American guests say
“We just returned from an incredible 8-day journey through Portugal, starting in Porto, then Lisbon, and ending in the Algarve, and André was the heart and soul of the experience… Traveling with three young kids (ages 6, 7, and 10) isn’t always easy, but André was absolutely amazing with them.”
“My family and I did a 7 day tour of Portugal with Andre covering various places like Lagos, Algarve, Sintra, Lisbon, Cascais and Porto and we had the best overall sight-seeing experience… He took us to places that were absolutely scenic and not frequented by too many tourists.”
“He arranged some great wine tastings for us and gave us some good recommendations for local food places… He was like a good friend showing us around.”
“Andre brings a knowledge of his country, its history and its culture that is as broad as it is deep, and he shares it with an enthusiasm that cannot help but be infectious.”
