Your day
Meeting point – Rossio Square. We meet in Rossio, the heart of downtown Lisbon, in the morning.
Ginjinha. We begin as Lisboetas have for generations: a small glass of ginja, the sour-cherry liqueur served from tiny bars around Rossio.
Pastel de nata. Next comes Portugal’s most famous pastry, the custard tart, warm and dusted with cinnamon, with the story of the monks who created it.
Bifana. In a traditional snack bar, try the bifana: thin slices of pork marinated in garlic and white wine, served in a crusty roll.
Codfish cake and vinho verde. We finish with a pastel de bacalhau, a crispy codfish cake, paired with a glass of fresh vinho verde from northern Portugal.
Along the way. Between tastings, we walk through Baixa, Chiado and the old streets around them, with stories of the 1755 earthquake, the rebuilding of the city and Lisbon’s everyday life.
